? World Habitat Day is commemorated every year in October. The United Nations decided to observe the first Monday of October as World Habitat Day. The day is commemorated every year worldwide to throw light on the condition of our towns and cities, and on the basic right of all to adequate shelter.

? Recently Puducherry Airport has become the first airport of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to be fully solar powered. The solar power plant installed on 500KWp of land was commissioned on 2 October 2020. The estimated cost of this plant is Rs 2.8 crore.

? Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday launched a mega anti-air pollution campaign, saying polluted air can be life threatening in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the campaign “Yudh Pradushan ke Virudh”, separate plans have been prepared for each of the 13 pollution hotspots in the city, Mr Kejriwal said during a digital press conference.

? Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare along with Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh digitally inaugurated the Super Speciality Block at Motilal Nehru Medical College, Prayagraj.

? As a part of Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNibhar Nidhi PM SVANidhi Scheme, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has entered into an MoU with Swiggy, online food delivery platform, to onboard street food vendors on its ecommerce platform, giving them online access to thousands of consumers.

? Railway Minister Piyush Goyal through a video link inaugurated the renaming of Naugarh railway station to Siddharthnagar railway station.

? Americans Harvey J Alter and Charles M Rice, and British scientist Michael Houghton were chosen for the Nobel Prize for Medicine or Physiology for the discovery of the Hepatitis C virus.

? Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli became the first Indian player to score 9,000 runs in T20 cricket.
