? Tick-borne SFTS virus has re-emerged in China, killing around 7 people and infecting around 60 others. This was reported on August 5, 2020.

? Former Union Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha was appointed as the next lieutenant governor (L-G) of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir on August 6, 2020.

? SEBI Chairman Ajay Tyagi has been given a term extension of 18 months till February 2022, as per an order by the personnel ministry. The decision was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5, 2020.

? Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) Pune, an autonomous organization under DRDO, won the first prize in Smart India Hackathon (SIH)-2020.

? Manoj Sinha was appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on August 6, 2020 by President Ram Nath Kovind.

? Madras High Court has imposed a fine of ten lakh rupees against Patanjali Ayurved and the Divya Mandir Yog Trust for the unauthentic claim that its Ayurvedic formulation Coronil could cure Covid-19.

? The country’s first Kisan Special Parcel Train or Kisan Rail will start from August 7, 2020. The train will start at 11 AM and it will transport material between Maharashtra’s Devlali and Bihar’s Danapur Railway station.

? The Reserve Bank of India on August 6, 2020 allowed banks to give loans up to 90% of the value of gold and jewellery pledged by borrowers. This relaxation of the limit, up from current limit of 75%, shall be available till March 31, 2021.

? The Reserve Bank on August 6, 2020 said it will set up an ‘Innovation Hub’ in the country for ideation and incubation of new capabilities which can be leveraged to deepen financial inclusion and promote efficient banking services.

? The Indian government has extended the Line of Credit worth of 18 million US dollars to the Maldives government for the expansion of fishing facilities at Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO).

? The BCCI suspended the IPL title sponsorship deal with Chinese mobile phone company Vivo for the event’s upcoming edition without giving any details.
