? National Sports Day is celebrated on August 29 every year in India. The date August 29 is chosen as it is the birth date of Indian hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The day is also known as Rashtriya Khel Divas.

? The Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the first ever marine ambulance named ‘PRATHEEKSHA’ on 27 August 2020 via videoconferencing. Pratheeksha is first in the series of 3 fully equipped marine ambulance boat built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), for the Department of Fisheries, Govt. of Kerala.

? Rajiv Kumar was on August 21, 2020 appointed as the new Election Commissioner by President Ram Nath Kovind. The former finance secretary has been replaced Ashok Lavasa, who resigned earlier this week.

? Gujarat was ranked at the top of Niti Aayog’s Export Preparedness Index 2020. Maharashtra was placed second and Tamil Nadu followed in third place, as per a report released by NITI Aayog on August 26, 2020.

? Rafale fighter jets will be formally inducted into the Indian Air Force by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on September 10, 2020 at the Ambala airbase in Haryana.

? The Government has extended the deadline to submit bids for Air India by two months till October 30, 2020 due to disrupted global economic activity in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
