? Odisha celebrates Utkal Divas (Odisha Day) every year on 1st April in the memory of the formation of the state as a separate province.

? A ‘Modi Kitchen‘ has been set up in the Kovai (Coimbatore), Tamil Nadu. The kitchen which has a capacity to serve 500 meals per day will remain operational till 14th April 2020.

? Amidst the rising cases of COVID-19 in India, IIT Kanpur is developing portable ventilators which will be significantly cheaper than the ones available in the market.

? BharatPe inks partnership with ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited to introduce ‘COVID-19 Protection Insurance Cover’. This Insurance cover for shopkeepers, who are most affected financially due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

? PhonePe has partnered with Bajaj Allianz General Insurance for a unique coronavirus hospitalisation insurance policy called “Corona Care.”

? Arogya Setu is India’s first comprehensive COVID-19 tracking application. It was launched by the central government on April 2, 2020. It will help people get connected to medical services and will also inform regarding the risk of COVID-19 exposure.

? The Ministry of Tourism has launched a portal ‘Stranded in India’ to help foreign tourists who are stuck in various parts of the country. Its web address is strandedinindia.com.

? The United Nation’s COP 26 climate change summit has been postponed to 2021. The summit was supposed to take place in November 2020 in Glasgow, Scotland.

? The Delhi Chief Minister in his live television address on April 2, 2020 announced that Rs 5000 will be transferred directly into the accounts of the drivers of autos, taxis, e-rickshaws, RTV’s and other public service vehicles to help through the lockdown period.

? Himachal Pradesh government has started “Active Case Finding Campaign” in the state. The campaign has been rolled out in the state to provide information about the symptoms of COVID-19 to the people at their doorsteps.

? The National Monitoring Dashboard on COVID-19 Grievances has been developed by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).

? The Dominican Republic took over the rotational Presidency of the United Nations Security Council in April 2020, succeeding China, which had held the position in March.

? The legendary historian and educationist, Professor Arjun Dev passed away. He was born on November 12, 1938, in Leiah, West Punjab (now in Pakistan). He served as a historian at the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT).

? The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has given its interim approval to conduct antibody tests in hotspot areas for COVID-19 virus. The tests aim to help fasten the process of detecting positive cases and help contain the spread.

? The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has approved Arogya Sanjeevani Insurance Policy, which is a standard and uniform product that will enable more people to get health insurance coverage. It can be available by anyone above the age of 18 years and up to the age of 65 years.

? The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed a new bio suit with new sealant to ensure the safety and security of all health care professionals involved in the care of COVID-19 patients.

? The Chief Executives of Oriental Bank of Commerce and the United Bank of India have been designated as ‘Officers on Special Duty’ in the Punjab National Bank. Mukesh Kumar Jain is the CEO of OBC bank, while Ashok Kumar Pradhan is the CEO of UBI.

? US President Donald Trump recently tested negative for COVID-19 for the second time. Donald Trump was tested again for the presence of coronavirus using a new rapid-point-of-care-test capability.

? The World Bank has approved USD 1 billion as an emergency fund for India to assist in tackling the deadly coronavirus. The World Bank’s first set of aid projects with an expenditure of USD 1.9 billion will assist 25 nations.

? China, the epicentre of COVID-19 pandemic, will be hosting the third edition of Asian Youth Games from November 20 to 28, 2021. The announcement was made by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) on April 3, 2020.

? The United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution titled ‘Global solidarity to fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)’ on April 2, 2020. The resolution calls for extensive international cooperation to reduce the impact of COVID-19 crisis.

? Justice Rajnesh Oswal took oath as the permanent judge of the J&K High Court under the Indian constitution on April 2, 2020. He became the first judge of the J&K court to be sworn under the Indian constitution.

? The oldest Grand Slam tennis tournament, Wimbledon has been canceled for the first time since World War II due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was scheduled to be held between 29 June and 12 July.
