? The World Maritime Day 2020 was observed on September 24, 2020. The day is being observed this year with the theme: Sustainable Shipping for a Sustainable Planet. The day is observed annually on the last Thursday of September.

? Star chef Vikas Khanna has authored a book titled “Kitchens of Gratitude” in which he has written about his Feed India initiative. Feed India initiative is one of the largest food drives in the world, serving meals to the underprivileged. The book will be released in 2021. He will also be honoured with the 2020 Asia Game Changer Award in October.

? Parliament approved a Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2020 to make it mandatory for office bearers of NGOs to provide their Aadhaar numbers at the time of registration and also bring various other changes.

? World Rhino Day is observed on September 22 every year to raise awareness and build a safe natural habitat for this incredible species. About: World Rhino Day  celebrates all five species of rhino: Black, white, greater one-horned, Sumatran and Javan rhinos.

? The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill 2020 with provisions to remove commodities like cereals, pulses, oilseeds, edible oils, onion and potatoes from the list of essential commodities was passed by Rajya Sabha.

? Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine entered Phase 3 trials in the United States on September 23, 2020. This is the fourth COVID vaccine candidate to enter the last stage of trials in the US, after Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca.

? Through tokenisation, Google Pay Android users can use their debit or credit card to make payments through a secure digital token attached to their phone without having to physically share their credit or debit card details. After the registration, the feature can be used to make payments at NFC-enabled terminals.
