? Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged the centre on August 23, 2020 to consider re-opening the Delhi Metro in a phased manner on a trial basis, as COVID-19 situation is under control in the national capital.

? Odisha has launched a new scheme to promote intensive aquaculture through bio-floc technology in fisheries. The Bio-floc based farming system is an advanced fish farming technology, which has been introduced in the State to provide livelihood support to young entrepreneurs and interested progressive fish farmers of the state.

? Funds will be allocated from PM CARES Fund Trust for the establishment of 500-bed COVID-19 Makeshift Hospitals at Patna and Muzaffarpur districts in Bihar. These facilities will be developed by the DRDO, with increased focus on fortification with modern amenities and infrastructure.

? The first unit of the Kudankulam Atomic Power Plant in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu resumed power production. The first phase was closed down for routine maintenance work last May. India collaborated with Russia in this exercise.

? Mahatma Gandhi’s iconic round-shaped spectacles were sold for Rs 2.55 cr at an auction in the United Kingdom on August 21, 2020.

? The 1.8 km long river ropeway, connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati, was inaugurated in Assam. This ropeway, built according to the relevant norms, will reduce the travel time and boost tourism sector.
