? The Central Excise Day 2020 was observed in India on February 24, 2020. The Day is celebrated by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) every year to acknowledge the contribution of CBEC officers.

? As a welcome gesture, the Government of India is hosting an event named as ‘Namaste Trump’ at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and is expected to be similar to the ‘Howdy Modi’ event which was held last year in Houston, US.

? Great Britain women’s field hockey captain Alex Danson-Bennett announced her retirement from the sport.

? Axis Bank Ltd has signed a confidentiality and exclusivity arrangement to explore the possibility of the Bank entering into a long-term strategic partnership with Max Life.

? Rajasthan Solar Park Development Company Ltd (RSDCL) and NTPC signed an agreement to develop 925 MW capacity solar park at Nokh in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district.

? HDFC Bank has joined hands with Mastercard and SAP Concur for spending management services for the corporate sector.

? Iran has confirmed 8 deaths due to the deadly coronavirus, which is the highest death toll from the virus outside China. Pakistan has announced closer of its border with the Islamic nation. Neighbouring Afghanistan has also banned all air and ground-based travel between the two nations.

? The Northeast Frontier Railway Construction Organisation has built India‟s tallest railway pier bridge which is 100 m tall across Makru river in the Tamenglong district of Manipur.

? Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad submitted his resignation to the country’s king, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah on February 24, 2020.

? The ‘Historical Gastronomica –The Indus Dining Experience’ exhibition was held at the National Museum in New Delhi. This is a unique exhibition based on India’s ancient food history that goes back to over 5000 years ago.

? India will be the host nation for the 2022 Commonwealth Shooting and Archery Championships. The Championship will be held in Chandigarh in January 2022.

? Haryana government will open Atal Kisan –Majdoor canteens across the state to provide affordable and cheap meals to farmers and labourers at a concessional rate.

? The Home Ministry has amended the Arms Act, 1959 to allow international medalists and renowned shooters to have additional weapons up to a total of twelve under the exempted category, as against earlier seven.

? The ESPN India Awards 2019 was announced. The ESPN.in Awards recognise the best individual and team performances in Indian sport on a calendar-year basis. The Courage award goes to Dutee Chand (Athlete).

? Rebel leader Riek Machar has been sworn in as the first Vice President of South Sudan. Machar will be a part of a transition government that will serve for 36 months.

? The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched the ‘5G Hackathon’ in association with the government of India, academia and industry stakeholders. The aim of 5G Hackathon is shortlisting India’s focused cutting edge ideas that can be converted into workable 5G products and solutions.

? Indian wrestler Pinki secured the coveted gold medal after beating Mongolia’s Dulguun Bolormaa in the women’s 55kg final at the Asian Championships in Delhi.

? Ross Taylor has become the first player in the cricketing world to play 100 matchesin all the three formats of the game. He reached the landmark feat during the first international cricket match of India and New Zealand bilateral test series started at Basin Reserve in Wellington.

? PV Sindhu has been named as Sportsperson of the Year (Female) for 2019 in the ESPN India Awards 2019.
