? Mexico issues world’s first sovereign bond linked to UN sustainable goals. Mexico on Monday became the first country in the world to issue a sovereign bond linked to the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations, raising EUR 750 million ($890 million).

? International Equal Pay Day is being celebrated for the first time on 18 September 2020. The day highlights the efforts of achieving equal pay for equal work. On 15 November 2019, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution to observe 18 September as International Equal Pay Day.

? World Bamboo Day is observed every year on 18 September to raise awareness of the benefits of bamboo and to promote its use in everyday products. WBD was officially declared by the World Bamboo Organization on September 18 at the 8th World Bamboo Congress held in Bangkok in 2009. The theme for 11th edition of WBD 2020 is ‘BAMBOO NOW.’

? The World Water Monitoring Day is observed every year on September 18 since 2003 to increase public awareness and involvement in water monitoring and protecting water resources around the world. Theme for 2020 WWMD is ‘Solve Water’.

? The ICICI Home Finance launched “Apna Ghar Dreamz”, its new home loan scheme for skilled laborers like electricians, mechanics, painters, grocery store owners etc in the informal sector of Delhi.

? Michelin-star chef Vikas Khanna will be honoured with the prestigious 2020 Asia Game Changer Award for feeding millions across India amid the COVID-19 pandemic through a massive food distribution drive that he coordinated from thousands of miles away in his Manhattan home.

? Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the 7 major urban infrastructure projects in Bihar through video conferencing on September 15, 2020. The projects have been implemented at a total cost of Rs. 541 crores. Among the 7 projects, four are related to the water supply, two to sewerage treatment, and one to the riverfront development. The projects have been implemented by The Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO).
