? Rail Infra and Mobility Business Digital Awards (RIMBDA) has awarded Ved Parkash Dudeja with the coveted ‘Infra Business Leader of the Year’ award for 2020.

? Reliance Industries conducted its 43rd Annual General Meeting on July 15, 2020. In one of the most awaited announcements, RIL Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani confirmed that Google will invest Rs 33,737 crore for a 7.7 percent stake in Jio Platforms.

? ISRO Chief Kailasavadivoo Sivan has been named for Von Karman Award 2020 by the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA).

? The BCCI has appointed Hemang Amin as the interim CEO of the board to replace Rahul Johri, whose resignation was accepted last week. The announcement was made on July 13, 2020.

? The state of Chhattisgarh has been awarded “Elites Excellence Awards-2020” by the IT institution Elites Technomedia under the ‘Digital India initiative’.

? The United Kingdom has imposed a ban on its telecom companies from sourcing 5G equipment from Chinese telecom company Huawei. The announcement was made by UK’s Digital Secretary Oliver Dowden after a meeting chaired by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

? China has successfully launched “APSTAR-6D” telecommunication satellite via a Long March 3B carrier rocket from Xichang Satellite Launch Center.

? US President Donald Trump on July 14, 2020 repealed his controversial directive to deport international students who decide to take online classes amid coronavirus pandemic.

? Madhya Pradesh government will launch a campaign titled as “Roko-Toko” under which it will target those people who do not wear masks.

? The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed P7 Heavy Drop System that is capable of para dropping military stores up to 7-ton weight class from IL 76 aircraft. The system is fully indigenous and is being manufactured by L&T.

? Visa, a global leader in payments technology has tied-up with Federal Bank to launch “Visa Secure” to the bank’s cardholders to provide a frictionless checkout experience to the consumers.

? Reliance Jio has launched a new and innovative technology- Jio Glass, a new mixed reality headset, which will enable holographic video calling. Jio Glass will bring teachers and students together in virtual 3D classrooms and conduct holographic classes through the Jio Mixed Reality cloud in real-time.

? Indian Railways will move towards 100 percent electrification in the next 3.5 years, announced Railways Minister Piyush Goyal while addressing an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on July 16, 2020. The Minister shared that by 2030, every Indian citizen will be a proud owner of the world’s largest clean Railways.

? Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a video address on World Youth Skill Day on July 15, 2020. The day has marked the fifth anniversary of the launch of Skill India Mission.

? The Twitter accounts of some of the world’s top business magnates, politicians and celebrities were hacked in an alleged Bitcoin scam. Some of the accounts include those of former US President Barack Obama, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Democratic US Presidential nominee Joe Biden, Mike Bloomberg and Celebrities Kim Kardashian and Kayne West.

? Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the India-European Union virtual summit on July 15 and highlighted the key role played by both the regions in the economic reconstruction in the post-COVID-19 world.

? The Bihar government has imposed a complete lockdown in the state starting from July 16 till July 31, 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-19. The decision was taken due to an alarming spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state during the last three weeks.

? India and Bhutan opened up a new trade route on July 15, 2020, between Pasakha in Bhutan and Jaigaon in West Bengal.

? Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa on July 15 has been named as the new Vice President of the Philippines based Asian Development bank.

? In the latest development, Iran has denied claims of dropping India from the Chahbahar-Zahedan Railway Project. One of the deputies to Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization, Farhad Montaser stated that the story was false because Iran has not signed any deal with India regarding the Chahbahar-Zahedan Railway Project.
