? NTPC Ltd has been awarded with the prestigious CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2019 under Outstanding Accomplishment in Corporate Excellence Category.

? Google CEO Sundar Pichai on July 13, 2020 announced an investment worth Rs. 75,000 crore , which is approximately $10 billion, in India over the next 5-7 years through the ‘Google for India Digitization Fund’.

? India’s second Voluntary National Review report titled as “Decade of Action: Taking SDGs from Global to Local” has been presented by NITI Aayog at UN High-level Political Forum.

? India has been dropped out from the construction of a railway line from Chahbahar port to Zahedan, along the border with Afghanistan, as the Iranian government has decided to proceed with the construction on its own. The agreement to build the railway line was signed by Iran and India four years ago.

? A member of the England 1966 World-Cup winning team, Jack Charlton passed away. He led the Republic of Ireland to their first major finals at Euro ’88 and the World Cup quarter-finals at Italia 90.

? The Myanmar government had passed a law in June 2020 allowing private zoos to breed 90 wildlife species out of which more than 20 are endangered. The list of endangered wildlife animals allowed for commercial farming includes Tiger, Pangolin, Ayeyarwady Dolphin and Siamese crocodile.

? The Union Health Ministry has called for increased expenditure on public health. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan highlighted during a meeting with the 15th Finance Commission that the government aims to gradually increase the public health expenditure to 2.5 percent of the nation’s GDP by 2025.

? The Philippines has called on China to comply with 2016 arbitral ruling that had ruled that China has no ‘historic rights over the waters of the South China Sea’. The move comes as China continues its aggressive action to show its dominance in the region.

? Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has approved General and Health Insurance companies to launch short-term ‘Corona Kavach’ health insurance policies.

? Singapore’s economy has slumped into recession with a record plunge in GDP by almost 41.2 percent in the last three months. This is largely due to the extended lockdown imposed to contain COVID-19 spread in the nation.

? Sachin Pilot was removed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan on July 14, 2020. The announcement was made by senior Congress leader and the party’s national spokesperson, Randeep Singh Surjewala. Sachin Pilot has also been removed as the Rajasthan Congress Committee Chief.

? Polish President Andrzej Duda narrowly beat his opponent Rafal Trzaskowski in the Presidential Elections held on July 12, 2020. The votes were counted on July 13. Andrzej Duda won 51.2 percent of the votes, while Trzaskowski won 48.97 percent. The total voter turnout was 68.18 percent.
