? Goa has become the first ‘Har Ghar Jal’ state in the country by providing 100% tap water connections in rural areas covering 2.30 lakh households, the Jal Shakti Ministry  said on Friday. The government’s Jal Jeevan Mission aims to provide piped water to all rural households by 2024.

? World Arthritis Day is observed on October 12, every year since 1996. World Arthritis Day is observed to raise awareness about Arthritis around the world. The theme of the World Arthritis Day 2020 is “Time2Work”. 

? The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2020 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel to Paul R. Milgrom and Robert B. Wilson “for improvements to auction theory and inventions of new auction formats.”

? United Nations General Assembly on December 19, 2011, adopted a resolution 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child. Thus, the first International Day of the Girl Child was observed on October 112012, and its theme at that time was “Ending Child Marriage”.
