? Bangladesh Cabinet on October 12, 2020 approved a draft law to include the death penalty as the highest punishment for rape. The law amends the Prevention of Women and Children Repression Act-2000.

? The Delhi Transport Minister, Kailash Gahlot has informed that the Delhi Government has decided to exempt road tax on the battery-operated vehicles under its new Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy.

? The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said it will conduct on-tap targeted long-term repo operations (TLTRO) for an amount of Rs 1 lakh crore to ensure comfortable liquidity conditions in the system.

? India has become the first nation to be awarded Blue Flag certification for all the 8 recommended beaches in a single attempt. India is also the first nation in the “Asia-Pacific” region that has achieved this feat in just about 2 years.

? Eight Indian beaches have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag certification. The beaches include Shivrajpur (Gujarat), Ghoghla (Diu), Kasarkod and Padubidri (Karnataka), Kappad (Kerala), Rushikonda (AP), Golden Beach (Odisha) and Radhanagar (Andaman & Nicobar Islands).

? In a bid to promote health and fitness, the directorate of sports and youth services of Maharashtra held a national-level athletic fitness championship virtually amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

? The International Girl Child Day was celebrated on October 11, 2020. The day is observed every year to empower women, especially in areas where they have been neglected.

? Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray said the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) have signed an agreement for the stadium experience tour of Wankhede Stadium.

? The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, has developed an antimicrobial food wrapping material. The material is biodegradable and can prevent the contamination of packaged food by bacteria during storage.
