? Chief Secretary of Punjab, Karan Avtar Singh has launched a mobile application, COVA Punjab. COVA stands for Corona Virus Alert. This app has been developed by the Department of Government Reforms and Public Grievances in consultation with the Health and Family Welfare Department to spread awareness by sharing various travel and preventive care advisories.

? Allahabad High Court orders immediate removal of the roadside posters in Lucknow with names and photos of those accused of vandalism during the anti-CAA protests.

? PSU Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd (TCIS) signs with The Gambia for the latter’s participation in the eVBAB Network Project for tele-education and tele-medicine in Africa.

? Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar has stated that Sanitary napkin makers will be asked to supply a biodegradable bag with each napkin from January 2021. Javadekar announced that the sanitation norms for Corporations and municipalities will now be applied to villages with a population of more than three thousand.

? BSE Sensex: 35,634.95 (–1,941.67), NSE Nifty 10,451.45 (–538); biggest ever single-day drop in absolute terms for both.

? Ashraf Ghani sworn in as Afghanistan President for 2nd term; rival Abdullah-Abdullah holds a parallel inauguration.

? NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) announced the name of the 5th Mars (red planet) rover as Perseverance. Previously the rover was known by its codename as Mars 2020. The name was suggested by Alexander Mather, 7th standard student and was announced by Nasa’s director of science, Thomas Zurbuchen at an event in Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, Virginia.

? Poonam Yadav is the only Indian player to feature in the Women’s T20 World Cup team of the tournament: ICC.

? The Indian women’s tennis team comprising Ankita Raina, Rutuja Bhosale and Sania Mirza created history in the Fed cup tournament by progressing to the play-offs for the first time after defeating Indonesia 2-1 in Dubai.
